FlipKickShdwA game which had evolved from the medieval era became popular in England when the 19th century started off. This is today’s soccer games. Soccer games were played back then by teams comprising of people from the same factory, village, city or many other groups. However, in the 1860′s, because of the rapid growth of the game, the rules became standardized. Here are some of the standard rules for all soccer games which are played all over the world these days.

First would be the “field of play”. This is the actual surface where soccer games are to be played. This regulates the dimensions of line markings up to the pitch. Since the existence of the first soccer balls, the form did not change. This is made of leather, weighing up to 450 grams and up to 70 centimeters in circumference. Next, any time must have ten outfield players and a goalkeeper in order to play a game. There should also be some substitutes made available anytime. All the equipments used in the soccer games should be the standard ones; from shirts, to shorts, socks, shin pads and more. The jerseys are usually comfortable and light.

The referee should wear either phosphorus green or black outfit. The main referee should be helped out by two assistant referees. They will help the main referee in making decisions about the game and signal to him if there are game issues. A fourth referee is also made available to replace one of the referees or to handle smaller issues such as checking the equipments.

Next rule, the duration of the standard game is limited only to two halves, forty five minutes each. A fifteen-minute break should be placed in between the games. However, this may not be strictly followed since there would be substitutions, out-of-play balls, and other delays. In case of knockout matches, 15 minutes each of mini periods will be made available. Next rule; the balls should be play in the entire duration of the match, except when there is an offense, the game is stopped by the referee or if the ball passes the lines.

Next, the scoring method; the goals are scored from direct free kicks, penalty spots and within the course of action. If the ball completely passes the goal area, then it will be considered a goal.

Next, the “offside” is considered as one of the trickiest rules in soccer games. There are also lots of misunderstandings when it comes to misconduct and fouls. A foul is made when a player would push away or kicks an opponent (although accidentally) when he attempts to get the ball. This usually happens during the game. But there are also misconducts that might happen even if the ball is out of play.

There are still lots of rules to know and learn with soccer games. Such rules are made to ensure that the games are made fair and equal.
